Master Bathroom Remodel Makeover

Master Bathroom Remodel Makeover

This bathroom in the Tall Grass area was outdated and not functioning well for our clients. They wanted a large walk-in shower and a double sink vanity. They wanted to give their master bath some new and exciting life!

Our client showed us a picture of a bathroom they found online and we went to work!

We ran into some issues along the way. Right off the bat on demo day, we were attempting to rip out the shower pan and realized that this was a HEAVY DUTY shower pan. The builder had poured a solid concrete pan and bench for this shower. We had to bring in a jackhammer to take that shower out!

Next, we brought in the plumber to reroute the plumbing. We had to delete some plumbing, add water lines, and move drain lines. This was a little tricky because the basement was finished underneath the bathroom.

As you will see in the picture below, we deleted the single vanity in front of the shower built the new walk-in shower larger. We also changed the door opening. The wide shampoo niche on the left caused us to have to build a header in the load bearing wall. See Jake’s video about this niche here.  In the back of the niche we put in a decorative tile to tie into the tile on the front of the steps going to the soaker tub.

To the left of the shower we put in a new soaker tub. We built new framing to house the new tub. We installed Schluter membrane on the tub deck and walls surrounding to ensure no leaking.  We built custom trim columns, header, and bead board ceiling surrounding the tub area.

We installed a double vanity with two sinks. We pulled the cabinets with the drawers forward a couple inches to add some design element.

One hurdle we had was the linen cabinet was 24” deep and did not look right in the space and took away from the view of the tub and shower area. So we took our festool tracksaw and cut down the cabinet to 12” and that fit the space much better.
