Myth Buster: Hardwood Floors

Myth: If I can’t afford solid hardwood floors, my only other option to achieve a similar look is laminate flooring.

Hardwood floors are a very popular option. The other day as I was watching Fixer Upper, I thought about how I can’t remember an episode in which Joanna said something other than “and we’ll add some nice hardwood flooring throughout to complete the look.” We all undoubtedly love the classic, timeless appearance of hardwoods. They are durable and beautiful — but they can be pricey. You can shop for a deal, but sometimes you have to sacrifice the style you are looking for in order to get the price down.

A great alternative option to true hardwood flooring is engineered hardwood.  Engineered hardwood has a thin layer of a real wood species on top with multiple layers of plywood underneath to reinforce it. Once installed, who could ever guess it is anything but hardwood?

Engineered hardwood is definitely a great option to consider as you plan to update flooring. Do you have any experiences with hardwood or engineered hardwood flooring? We look forward to seeing your comments below!
