Myth: If I can’t afford solid hardwood, my only other option for a hardwood look is laminate flooring.
Hardwood floors are definitely a very popular option. The other day as I was watching Fixer Upper, I thought about how I can’t remember a show that Joanna said something other than “and we’ll add some nice hardwood flooring throughout to complete the look.” We all undoubtedly love the classic, timeless appearance of hardwoods. They are durable and beautiful—but they can be pricey. You can shop for a deal, but sometimes you have to sacrifice the style you are looking for in order to get the price down.
Another great option is engineered hardwood. Engineered hardwood has a thin layer of a real wood species and then multiple layers of plywood to reinforce it. Once installed, who could ever guess it is anything but hardwood?
Engineered hardwood is definitely a great option to consider as you plan to update flooring. Do you have any experiences with either flooring option? We look forward to seeing your comments below!
